As in all education institutions, permanence is the basics at the Air Force Academy. During the four year education period a programmed and extensive leadership education is taught. The Leadership Education is being applied in both cognitive and affective domain in four years and improvement program is renewed with evaluation. The Leadership Program which is considered as a whole, is applied according to years. The first year is a year in which cadets adapt themselves to the school, learn the rules and operation, and where cognitive domain information is given, and understanding is provided, and applications are made, and in which the cadets participate in the leadership program as observers. It is the period that they can create a role model for themselves by observing their leaders. In the second and third years, while the tendency of cadets to the group activities are being researched with the Project Works; at the same time there will be learning at the upper levels of cognitive area like decision making, application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation. As the follow on training of the first year in cognitive domain, the basics of information are built with the help of Personal Improvement Lessons. By following this project which brings applications such as creating solutions to the determined issues, developing skills to persuade people and making decision and experiencing the period, it is aimed at making great steps in leadership development. In addition, in the third year, squad leadership is applied. In the forth year, the last phase of the improvement will be continued with the leadership applications whose savings come from the previous years and the gaining in cognitive area will be applied in a big area. With this education, it is aimed to make a contribution to the professional development of cadets who feels responsible, who can find solutions to the problems, who actively participates in management and decision-making processes. |
