STAFF COLONEL BURHAN GÖKSEL (30.8.1959-27.5.1960)
Col Burhan GÖKSEL was born in İzmit in 1916. He graduated from Bursa Military High School in 1933, from Army War Academy in 1935, from Infantry School in 1936, from Air School in the year Oct. 1,1938 and was appointed to 5th Aircraft platoon as a pilot.
He entered the War College in 1941 and graduated in 1944. Until 1949 he served as a pilot at Reconnaissance Bombardment and Transportation bases.
In 1949 he was appointed as the deputy chief of Construction of Air Force. From 1950 to 1951 he served as the Department Chief of Schools in Air Force Headquarters. Meanwhile he served in the Air Force Academy.
Following this, he served as the deputy Commander of the 12th Air Transportation Base, as the Department Chief of the Schools and as an instructor at the Air, Army and Navy solidarity school. In 1954 he was appointed to Washington Air Attaché.
Between the years Aug.30, 1959 and May 27,1960, he served as the commandant of the Turkish Air Force Academy.
In the year Aug. 2,1960, he retired at the rank of Colonel.
BRİGADİERE GENERAL ZEKİ BELGİN (15.10.1957-30.8.1959)
Brig. Gen. Zeki Belgin was born in İstanbul in 1902. He entered the Naval School at Heybeliada in 1916. He finished this school in 1920. After his war Academy training at Hamidiye warship, he became an Ensign in the year September 1,1923.
He was promoted to first lieutenant in the year September 1,1924. As he wanted to be a navy pilot, he was appointed to the Navy Aircraft Platoon in İzmir. He was sent to England in 1928. Here finishing the Flight Instructor Scholl, he returned home in 1929.
In the year August 30,1932 he shifted from Navy to Air Force. In 1934 he was appointed to Eskişehir Air School Platoon Command and in 1936 he was appointed to Turkish General Staff. In 1938 he was promoted to a Major and in 1940 he was first appointed to Air School Training Squadron Command and then to a lieutenant colonel in 1944. After serving at various posts, he was promoted to a colonel in the year August 30,1947 and to a brigadier general in the year August 30,1956.
Between the years Oct. 15,1957 and Aug. 30,1959 he served as the commandant of the Turkish Air Force Academy.
In the year Aug. 30,1960 he retired at the rank of Brigadier General.
COLONEL HİKMET TUGAY (2.11.1956-21.9.1957)
Col Hikmet Tugay was born in İstanbul in 1907. He graduated from Army War Academy in the year May 1,1929. After completing his flight training at flight school, he was appointed to the third Aircraft Squadron in Diyarbakır.
After serving at Yeşilköy Air Platoon in 1933, he was sent to the U.S.A for pilot training. He returned homeland on November 7,1935.
Between the years 1935 and 1938, he served as a pilot at Eskişehir 1st Aircraft Regiment and as an Officer at Air School.
Between years 1938 and 1941 he served at various posts at Çorlu 5th Aircraft Regiment and till1945 at Eskişehir Aircraft Regiment.
Between the years September 3,1945 and January 1,1946 he served at the TUAF Headquarters as the Training Officer. Meanwhile he went to Cairo for four months for making examinations.
Between the years 1946 and 1948, he served as the fleet commander in İzmir and as a training officer at the 2nd Air Division. In the year November 12, 1948 he was appointed to TUAF Headquarters as the training Officer.
In August 28, 1952 he was appointed to 21st Flight Group Command at 12th Air Transportation Base.
Between the years September 8, 1954 and October 12, 1954 after serving at the 1st Air Force Command, he was appointed to NATO Headquarters in İzmir.
Between the years November 2, 1956 and September 21, 1957 he served as the Air Training Commandant and as the Air Force Academy Commandant.
In the year August 22, 1960 he retired at the rank of Colonel.
COLONEL BAKİ GEGİN (26.8.1955-29.8.1956)
Col Baki GEGİN graduated from Army War Academy in 1929 and graduated from Air School in 1932. He served at the 6th Aircraft Regiment as a pilot and as a team commander from 1932 to 1937. In 1938 he was appointed to the 2nd Aircraft Regiment Platoon Command and served here for 5 years.
In the years 1943-1944, after being trained at four-engine aircraft in the U.S.A. he was appointed to the operations Department of the 1st Air Division in 1945 and to the 2nd squadron command of the 1st Aircraft Regiment in 1948 and to the Operations and Training Department of the same Regiment in 1949.
In 1950 he was appointed to the Air School Training Group Command. In 1951 he was appointed to the Air Force Academy Operations and Training Department and served here for two years.
In the years 1953-1954 he served at the 4th Aircraft Base, in the years 1954-1955 he served at the Operations and Training Department of the 9th Air Base.
Between the years Aug.26, 1955 and Aug. 29,1956 he served as the commandant of the Turkish Air Force Academy as well as the deputy commander of Air Training Command.
In the year Sept.1961, he retired at the rank of Brigadier General.
STAFF COLONEL GAVSİ UÇAGÖK (6.8.1951-26.8.1955)
Col Gavsi Uçagök was born in İstanbul in 1904. He graduated from Army War Academy in 1925 and also finished a course about aircraft in Eskişehir in 1926.
The same year he was promoted to a second lieutenant. In 1929 he was promoted to a first Lieutenant. In the years 1931-1934 he attended War College. Following this, he served at various post throughout the country.
He was promoted to a major in 1943 and to a Lt Col in 1943. In 1946 he was appointed to the chief of staff of the Ministry of National Defense. The same year he was promoted to a colonel.
After serving in Kütahya and Ankara at the rank of colonel, he was appointed to Air Force Academy Commend which was about to be established in Eskişehir in the year August 6,1951. As the Air Force Academy was moved to İzmir in 1954, he served as the commandant of the Academy till August 26,1955.
In the year August 3,1960, he retired at the rank of Major General.
